Areas of Expertise

I was teaching yoga classes for a few years. I thought I was doing pretty good until my own physical imbalances limited my movements on the mat and off the mat. I was introduced to Yoga Tune Up (YTU). My journey of the embodied anatomy in my own body had begun by placing YTU therapy balls in the trigger points that hurt. I enrolled in the Level 1 training to become a certified YTU Instructor.

The anatomical content of the YTU training appealed to my curious mind. The physical practice, creativity, and breath cues blew me away. Taking The Core Immersion led by Jill Miller was like going to a movement lab where you could learn, play, discover, and be curious about your body and movement. It is not your traditional yoga class with the repetitive sequences and confinement within the four sides of a mat. It is because of YTU training, I understood a connection between flexibility and stability. For the first time, I could experienced the breathing mechanics in my body and how they could relate to core stability.

Julia teaches Yoga Tune Up that blends a unique set of corrective exercises, self-massage, fitness, and alignment principles to eradicate pain, improve posture and enhance performance. I now teach with confidence, knowing that what I can offer my students will make a difference from the moment they leave the mat.

Have you always wanted to try yoga but do not feel comfortable in a group class?

Are you interested in expanding your personal yoga practice and learning how to avoid pain?

Are you a yoga teacher who has been suffering some pains and aches?

Personalized Yoga Tune Up Session

Every person’s body is unique and as such, may have needs not met by large group yoga classes. Private yoga is tailored to individual needs and allows more time for the instructor to help each student develop and deepen his or her practice and body awareness. In private sessions, there are many more opportunities to ask questions and discuss your concerns, all while enjoying being the focus of attention. Set goals and achieve them much faster than you would in a regular yoga class.

How Do Private Yoga Sessions Work?

We meet at the Movement Lab. We will begin by discussing your needs, concerns, questions and goals. Then we will work together, considering your individual situation, to customize a practice that is beneficial for you.

Yoga + Massage – Restorative yoga with Thai Yoga Massage Combo. It is a therapeutic style of yoga, which utilizes props (pillows, bolsters, blocks, blankets) to make it easier for the body to get into certain poses, and thus surrender to the pose. Restorative yoga is a quiet practice suitable for students of all levels of experience.

Many of the poses are seated, supine or prone and are held for several minutes.

There is a focus on the breath, being present in the moment, relieving tension and letting go.

Benefits – the antidote to stress is relaxation. Restorative yoga focuses on relaxation, renewal, effortlessness and ease. This practice soothes your nervous system, helps you quiet your mind and invites you to release deeply held tension. We also use breath as a tool to release tension.
