Julia resides in Springboro. She has a BS degree in business from Niagara University and MS in Organizational Communication from Canisius College, Buffalo, NY.

Also, those 6 tabs with brief descriptions that we looked at yesterday, I think we can use them for describing different styles of yoga – yin, restorative, gentle, beginner’s, chair yoga for seniors, office yoga.


Restorative yoga is a therapeutic style of yoga, which utilizes props (pillows, bolsters, blocks, blankets) to make it easier for the body to get into certain poses, and thus surrender to the pose. Restorative yoga is a quiet practice suitable for students of all levels of experience.

Many of the poses are seated, supine or prone and are held for several minutes.

There is a focus on the breath, being present in the moment, relieving tension and letting go.

Benefits – the antidote to stress is relaxation. Restorative yoga focuses on relaxation, renewal, effortlessness and ease. This practice soothes your nervous system, helps you quiet your mind and invites you to release deeply held tension. We also use breath as a tool to release tension.

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga is approved by the Arthritis Foundation to ease the aches and pains of arthritis sufferers. You will explore breath, stretches, and relaxation.

The gentle yoga style is a slower and modified version of the basic yoga style. Gentle yoga teaches the importance of balancing the body, mind and breath while moving the joints and stretching the body at a slower to moderate pace.

gentle_yoga1It provides an opportunity to surrender, slow down, and bring steadiness to one’s practice. The gentle variations of sun salutations are offered to build strength and steadiness. There is a focus on the breath, being present in the moment, relieving tension and letting go.

The use of props and pose modifications are offered to help achieve an effortless state. Perfect for beginners or experienced practitioners who want to move in a nurturing and supportive way.

Goal: Provide a mindful yoga practice for people of all levels to grow and learn through the experience of yoga.

gentle_yogaIt is designed for beginners and people who did yoga before and want to resume their practice. This class offers basic instructions of yoga practice, an introduction to correct breathing and postures (asanas) as well as a gentle flow to accustom yourself to the practice and become familiar with your body’s needs and abilities.

We will be exploring and balancing body, breath and mind in order to experience peace and well-being. The beginner’s yoga sessions include postures, breathing and a period of relaxation.
