Is a 90-Minute Session Available in Private Yoga?

shutterstock81172690Yes, it is highly recommended. In my experience, 60-Minute sessions feel rushed, and we already rush around enough in life. 90-Minutes gives us time to connect and catch-up on what’s going on in your life and in your body.

It allows ample time for practice and for a meaningful relaxation at the end. Please contact me if you are interested in a 90-minute private yoga session so I can customize the price.

Is this appropriate for me if I have a severe injury of physical limitation?

I work with people on a case-by-case basis.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you have about starting a yoga practice. If I cannot assist you, I can refer you to another expert.

Do I have to have any experience with yoga?

No. I work with all levels of experience, starting from brand-new beginners to advanced practitioners.

What to Expect With Thai Yoga Massage

home1The first Thai Yoga with Julia Private TYM Session begins with a comprehensive assessment. Through conversation about medical history, personal habits and contributors to pain and tension,

Julia gains an understanding of each client’s individual issues and what he or she hopes to achieve through Thai Yoga. She then customizes each session to the individual needs of the client.
During and after a TYM session, clients often experience deep meditative release from both mental and physical tension.

Do I have to have any experience with Thai yoga?

No. At no point in the session are you doing yoga. I will move your arms and legs for you into assisted stretches, but you don’t have to do anything except receive the healing benefits. If you are interested in beginning a yoga practice,

TYM can serve as a wonderful introduction. If you are already an experienced yogi or yogini, TYM can enhance your practice.

What is the history of Thai Massage?

Woman getting recreation massageThai Yoga Massage is a sister science to yoga and is rooted in the ancient Indian healing system of Ayurveda. The founding father of TYM was a yogi and physician named Jivaka Kumarbhaccha who lived 2,500 years ago. Dr. Jivaka treated many kings and princes but his most important patient was the Buddha.

When Buddhism spread to Southeast Asia, so did Ayurvedic practices. India’s form of therapeutic massage developed in Thai Buddhist temples over the course of many centuries. Perhaps the most famous of these temples is the Wat Po in Bangkok. Today, the Wat Po serves not only as a health care facility but as a school and research center for TYM.

How is Thai Yoga Massage different from regular massage?

imageDuring a Thai Yoga Massage, you are fully clothed and are lying on a comfortable floor mat.

Different forms of pressure techniques are used along the sen (energy lines) of your body as well as stretching to move and open your limbs.

The idea is that any pain or discomfort you are feeling in your body is the result of blockages along your sen. A session is a full body nurturing experience that is at moments intense, gentle, soothing, and energizing. Overall, it is deeply healing and relaxing.

Do you need to be flexible to enjoy Thai Yoga Massage?

mobileNo. One of the many benefits of TYM is improved flexibility and range of motion so if these are areas of weakness for you, TYM can help.

Furthermore, your massage therapist will consider your range of motion before your massage begins.

Do you provide Gift Certificates?

Yes! Visit my SHOP to purchase a session and specify in the notes section of the check imageout process that it is a gift certificate.

What Do I Wear For My Thai Yoga Session?

imageComfortable, moveable clothes are ideal for your session. Something that you would feel completely comfortable lounging around in and that allows your limbs to move freely.

Full or 3/4 length pants work better than shorts. Also, most clients prefer T-shirts to sleeveless shirts or tank tops.
